Traffic School

Violator of traffic infractions may be eligible to attend Traffic School. Traffic school masks the point from appearing on your driving record. Failure to attend Traffic School may adversely effect your insurance costs.

From DMV:

When a driver is cited for a traffic violation, the judge may offer the driver the opportunity to attend a Traffic Violator School. Drivers who do not have a commercial license may participate once in any 18-month period to have a citation dismissed from their driving record this way.

NOTE: If you have a commercial license and attend traffic school the citation will still appear on your driving record regardless of the type of vehicle you were driving when cited.

To sign up with full payment

In order to attend traffic school, you must pay the bail amount indicated on your courtesy notice PLUS a $24 state fee to the court either in person or by mail before the appearance date on your ticket.  The $24.00 state fee does NOT pay for traffic school.  Checks should be made payable to Yuba County Superior Court.  Our office will note in the official court record that you have elected to attend traffic school, and will provide you with a list of approved schools.  You may choose to attend any school on the list. The traffic school fee will be between $16 and $30 and must be paid directly to the school.  When you complete the 8-hour class, you MUST provide our office with the purple completion certificate.  Without this document, we cannot dismiss your ticket.

To sign up and postpone payment

If you are unable to pay the bail amount plus the $24 state fee on or before the appearance date on your ticket, you may request a 60-day extension to pay.  To do so, you must either come to the clerk’s office or request an extension by mail.  If you request an extension by mail, you must include your name, address, and case number in the letter.  Only one 60-day extension can be granted.  Prior to the end of the extension, you must pay the bail amount indicated on your courtesy notice PLUS a $24 state fee to the court either in person or by mail.  Our office will note in the official court record that you have elected to attend traffic school, and will provide you with a list of approved schools.  You will have 90 days from the date of payment to complete the 8-hour class.  The traffic school fee will be between $20 and $30 and must be paid directly to the school.  When you complete the class, you MUST provide our office with the blue completion certificate.  Without this document, we cannot dismiss your ticket.
